Public Hearings

7:45 PM Abbreviated Notice of Intent for the repair/replacement of a septic system with related site work within 100 feet of Isolated Land Subject to Flooding at 249 Phillips Street, Map 50, Lot 125 for Francis and Patricia Nolan represented by Webby Engineering, Inc., 180 County Road, Plympton, MA  02367   (LOCAL #09-01)  (New Hearing)

Frank Schellenger read the Public Hearing Notice and the abutters were verified.  Mr. Alan Dias, a licensed septic installer, made the presentation for a septic repair.  The system, because of the constraints of the lot, was 27 feet from the Bordering Vegetated Wetland delineated by Walter Hewitson.  The system had been approved by the Board of Health.  A temporary stockpile area is outside the 50-foot buffer zone.  Mr. Vacca recommended that the erosion control barrier be moved forward away from the BVW and established as the limit of work.  Mr. Dias explained that it was possible to move the silt sock forward about 10 feet and entwine it between the trees.

Discussion

Data Collection Cruise/Wampatuck
Mr. Vacca reported that he and Mr. Schellenger had taken the Commission’s new boat out onto Wampatuck Pond last Thursday on it’s maiden voyage as part of the annual Pond Study!  They tested the boat, the motor and the equipment and were able to collect some data using the sonar device.   By dragging the transducer behind the boat and making three passes across the lake and around the island, they were able to measure temperature and depth, deducing the Pond’s average depth at 5 feet.  Mr. Vacca also mentioned that Phil Clemens, Associate Member, stopped by the office on Monday to review the Pond Study.  He made suggestions and offered to help with the QAQC of the data.
